JAMES CRAWLED!

Um - HELLO!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I will first tell you that when James started crawling, I screamed, I laughed, I screamed "Good Boy" so loud that I started crying and laughing at the same time. I picked up my son and squeezed him so tightly; rocking him back and forth covering him in kisses! James crawled!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Then, after setting up the video camera to capture this awesome event, Dad walked in the door! Dad swooped right in and picked up our little man and gave him the biggest hug. I even called our physical therapist and she was so happy and proud of James. I told her that we were getting ice cream to celebrate and she said that would too tonight.

So ... interested in how it all went down? Glad you asked! So, Mommom had just left on Thursday and both me and James were going through a little Mommom withdrawal. I am very rarely on my cell phone in front of James because to be honest, I just don't think that it's at all fair to him - he deserves 100% of my attention 100% of the time - that's just how I operate. But, I wanted to take a video of James walking and smiling for Mommom as she waited at O'Hare. When I was done filming the 10 seconds, James lunged for my camera. I put it away under the couch immediately because I never let him hold it - it's pricey and I imagine that it's just filthy. Then, James was playing in his little fort/tent and since he was occupied, I took out my phone to mail my Mom the video and before I knew it, James pounced on my phone like a jungle cat.

I then slid it on the carpet away from him and then it happened. He got into the crawling position and went for it! Then he got the phone and was so happy. I took it from him and put it away from him and he crawled again! He got the phone again! He was laughing and getting so excited with our new game. This game went on for at least 15 minutes. At one point, he threw the phone and then went to get it! He crawls in his own style (of course) - right leg normal crawl and the left leg out to the side almost like he's scooting/crawling/walking.

And, as a closing for this post, I would like to thank everyone for every single prayer, every single good thought, every single phone call, email, text, and note encouraging us and sharing in this with us - you have no idea how much it has meant to us. The journey is not over yet, we still have a lot to do, but you know what? What at times seemed impossible, has now become possible. Hope and Faith. Love you all.

  2. So awesome! Go James! It seems like I read somewhere that the fastest way to get them crawling and/or walking is to tempt them with a cell phone, remote, etc...something they want and aren't suppose to have! Looks like that is true...I will have to try it, as neither of my girls are crawling yet...
