We had our second week appointment with Dr. Hirsh on the 7th of August. As soon as she looked at him she said, "just by looking at him his jaundice is gone!" Woo-Hoo! She called Mom a rock star and said she was doing a fantastic job. It's always nice to hear that - especially from a doctor. The circumcision healed beautifully and Cillian gained a lot of weight in one week - he went from 6lbs 3 ounces to 6lbs 11 ounces in one week! He also grew half an inch :) He is still so tiny though :) Dr. Hirsh told me to add Vitamin D drops to his diet - I didn't need to do this with James so I'm wondering if this is new? Breastfed babies need to have these supplements. Maybe since we switched in to this practice they already assumed he was on them. In any case, we add the drop to a bottle of milk.
In terms of the eye opening - nothing really. We've seen his eyes slit open - just slightly. Usually his left one. But that's progress right?
We were able to get an appointment on the 22nd of August at the specialist but after we got home from the 2 week visit, my Mom suggested we call to see if we could get on a cancel list or if there was a new opening. Doug and I thought that it couldn't hurt so I called and sure enough there had just been a cancellation and we could be seen tomorrow.
Doug had the day off today and tomorrow so it would work out perfectly. Doug took James to art class. Here he is with Kate painting. They learned about warm and cool colors today and did two paintings - a warm one and a cool one. How fun!
