So, here's the story of Chicken Day. Back in December when we told James about the baby, I thought it would be fun to flip to July in my calendar and have James pick his date for the baby to come. I asked him, what square on these pages (5 different pages) do you think the baby will come? James flipped back and forth through the pages and picked Wednesday July 25th. He told me to draw a baby on it. So I did. You can see my unbelievable talent above.
One day James randomly said that the baby was coming on Chicken Day. Doug and I kind of looked at each other and asked James what Chicken Day was and he said, "it's the baby's birthday." If we asked when the baby's birthday was, James would reply, "it's chicken day." So, it seemed to us just to be some kind of circular thinking. We had no idea where James got chicken day from and we just kind of let it be.
The Sunday before I gave birth, I was planning the menu for the week and you can see in blue above that I was trying to figure everything out for the week and I suppose I didn't finish because there were question marks on multiple pages. When we knew we were going to the hospital, I was glancing over my planner to make see if I needed to tell my Mom anything specific or if there were any outstanding plans that needed to be canceled etc and I noticed that July 25th was indeed "chicken day."
Weird huh?
Doug and I told the doctors and the nurses in the delivery room about it and Dr. Buscher and Dr. Williams just couldn't get over it. So even though James wasn't right about the gender, he did pick the date. . . which in my opinion is much more impressive :)
**These posts are going to be all over the place for a little bit - I've got a lot to catch up on since the arrival of Mr. Cillian :)
