Dr. Z

We went to see Dr. Z today. She's the eye specialist recommended by Dr. Hirsh. Here's little stinker in the waiting room with his eyes open. He's been opening them more and more thank you GOD and hopeful will be continuing to open them more often. Dr. Z looked at his eyes and said that she never met anyone who didn't open their eyes and said that everything appeared to be fine but that she'd know more once his eyes were dilated. So they put in the drops and we waited for 30 minutes. It was perfect timing because lCyillian ate during that time. They even asked us if we'd like to go in a separate room to feed him for privacy and also the waiting room was packed with kids getting their back to school eye exams.

They came and got us and Dr. Z opened Cillian's eyes with this reverse-tweezer thing that reminded me of Clockwork Orange. You know what I'm talking about. When they hold open his eyes for his punishment. Yeah. It was intense. I couldn't look. I had to close my eyes and just hold him. Everything looks fine though and his eye balls are of normal size and to quote Dr. Z "everything that we can't change or fix is totally fine." She suspects that he has sleepy eyelids - she suspects this because this guy has sleepy eyelids.

She even gave Doug's eyes a diagnosis. I was too busy calming Cillian to catch what she said but it was the official medical term for sleepy eyelids. Hopefully that's what's going on with Cillian. We have a follow-up with her in October. The eye appointment and comparing of eyes by a medical professional (she said I had big, beautiful wide set eyes - thank you, thank you) got us thinking about James and Cillian. James totally has my eye shape and setting but Doug's beautiful blue coloring. I couldn't help but wonder if Cillian will have Doug's shape and setting but have hazel green eyes. Wouldn't that be cool? I think so.
