We took our first trip to the museum campus farmer's market this summer. Doug has taken James to Green City over the summer but we hadn't yet gone to the one at the modern art museum. This made me sad because James and I would go every Tuesday last summer and fall. This summer though I was so afraid I wouldn't make it there and back without having to go to the bathroom or fainting in the 100 degree weather. So finally (!!) James, Cillian, Liddy and I all packed up and walked to the market. Doug installed a board for the stroller that James rides on and James was weary at first but now loves it. It is such a lifesaver. I don't know how we'd get around without it in the city. Those double strollers take up the entire sidewalks so this set-up is just perfect for us.
The whole time I was pregnant I was craving two meals - one was a Greek salad I make with feta (that I couldn't have) and the other was the farmer's market meal - fresh heirloom tomatoes, fresh mozzarella cheese, balsamic, and then toasted baguette with garlic olive oil and prosciutto (that I couldn't have). I really just cannot even tell you how much I enjoyed eating this food. I over-served myself and over ate but I did so happily and without guilt. It was an indulgence I've been waiting for and it was so worth it.
Anyway, we got the heirloom tomatoes which are just too good to be true, huge ears of corn, green beans, a humongous zucchini and the most beautiful sunflowers. I love the farmer's market and had missed it so much. I'm so glad we were able to go.
There was a huge piece of art in front and James spelled the letters out and said, "what that spell Mom" and I said, "Mothers." And James said, "It says Mothers Mom ... so you allowed here." Everyone around us was smiling and a few people were surprised that he could recognize the letters. He's such a smarty :) I'm so proud of him.
Then we walked over to the firehouse where all the firemen were outside filming a commercial or doing a radio spot or something. After they were finished, James said, "Be Safe." All of the firemen smiled and nodded their heads and one of them said, "Love you." It was a great day.
Here are some of the photos from our outing. Can't wait for next Tuesday!
