Rain Rain Go Away

So ... it's been raining here. A lot. However, we've been managing to still have a good time. Tuesday we had a blast inside and outside. In the morning, we made blueberry muffins and in the afternoon, enjoyed the bounty of the rain - puddles and an empty beach.

James made his own goods from flour dough while Mom made the muffins

James was not happy about the muffins having to cool for 5 minutes in the pan and then 5 more minutes of cooling on the wire rack. Not. Happy.

So .... this cop rolls up and says, "Hi James." I stood there and stared at him for a minute and finally said, "Um, how do you know my son's name?" And then he explained he hangs out in the grocery store up the street and always hears the check-out clerks saying hi to us. James is famous around these parts. So I said, "Well, you know my son's name, can we have yours?" "Officer Gene." He's our pal that makes sure our park is nice and safe ... and apparently our corner grocery store too :)

Running on the beach - I loved playing out here with him. It's so rare that we can just let James run wild and it's so wonderful when we can. I just love watching him play and run and go right for the water.
