Last night it was just me and James for dinner. I had put his rice and beans to cool on the table and while I fixed my own plate, I asked him to bring his peppers and other vegetables to the table. I looked over at the table because it was so quiet and I saw James sitting in a dinner chair with his veggies, his rice and beans and his milk right in front of him. And then he started eating. I sat down next to him, and he told me, "Mom, Js sit down in Mom." Which roughly translated means, Mom James is sitting in your chair. And we sat and ate dinner together at the table. James even did a "Cheers." Seeing James at the table in a chair was really cute and actually made me feel like he had grown up a lot. And then back to cute - his little head just popping out over the table and his little legs swinging. Adorable.
Today at breakfast and throughout the day he sat in his highchair. But then at dinner, he did it again. Climbed right into a chair and when I brought him his plate he said, "Oh thank you Mom." Then Doug did what I did last night - he took a picture.
My only issue is that I wish I could travel back in time and tell young Meg and Doug to get chairs with leather instead of fabric. My old chair, James' chair, has a coating. Resolve was powerless. Any suggestions would be appreciated! :)
We just put old towels over the chairs and hope for the best! Not attractive, but it works! So cute, I love that he just decides to do things things on his own!
