I'm not going to get behind again! This weekend is not over so I can still post about last weekend ... Right?
Last Friday (so still in August), Doug took off from work and we decided to go up north and ride our bikes through the forest preserve trails. We had a blast. Doug's parents, Gran and PaPa, gave James the Chariot for his birthday we finally had a weekend we could use it!!!!! It was wonderful - James loved being driven around and cruising through the woods. It was so nice and quiet and woodsy I guess. I normally don't do nature, but it was a fun.
I kept thinking, "The Simpsons have entered the forest."
Then we decided to go for a bike ride down town and the reason we hadn't yet is because the bike paths and trails get heavy with the 'real' bike rides who are not always so nice to slower moving people on the paths. And I get it, they're on it to really ride etc etc So we are all ready to go - nice and early in the morning, I'm thinking no one will be on the path and .... there's a triathlon happening.
So we're almost to Grant Park and we have to cross the race path - a lady yelled at me (rightly so) because I was on the path for the runners on my bike. Yikes. We got off the pathway and into the park and had fun at Buckingham Fountain. James had never been there and it was fun to see him get so excited. He wanted to get through the barrier and play in the fountain :)
Then we road home through the city which was fun because the streets were empty and then in the afternoon, we went to the park and flew a kite. It was so nice to just enjoy time together and be outside in the beautiful weather.
What a fun day! I love all the pictures. xoxo to my fave little family in CHicago!
