Scott and Colleen's son Aden turned ONE! And his birthday party was in Wisconsin at their lake house. From the beginning we knew that Doug and James would definitely go but that Cills and I would be a that day decision. We ended up all going and it was a lot of fun. It was the boys' first time in Wisconsin and it was our first family car trip - 2 hours there and 2 hours back. We packed a cooler. It was like the Great Outdoors but with little ones - we were going to "God's Country." The Great Outdoors is one of my favorite movies and Doug's too actually. We were talking and laughing about it for a lot of the trip. Maybe one day when the boys are bigger we'll rent a cabin for a week and go fishing and things of the like. Very North Woodsy stuff. Crazy Midwestern life that I lead.
Anyway, two hours in the car you say? With toddler and five year old? Oh yes. Lots of music preferences - everyone got a turn. James wanted to listen to his John Williams cd - Superman Theme, Imperial March, Star Wars, Jaws, ET, Indiana Jones, Olympics, etc etc and then Cillian - The Frozen Soundtrack. It really is a special time when the whole car can sing along isn't it? And then a little Widespread Panic and 60s Soul sprinkled in for good measure.
Here are the photos from our first road trip adventure to WiscAAAAAHHHHHHHnsin. Someone actually had a Packers jersey on at the party. Classic.
