Chipmunks

Chipmunks are adorable.
They are even two of my favorite Disney characters.
And they have racing stripes.
They are super cute.

But, when they try to make a home in your garage, they must be removed. And because we are a loving family, guided by our big hearted, nature loving, chipmunk advocating son, we relocated the chipmunks instead of ahem ... the other choice. Doug and James set the trap by creating a beautiful acorn and peanut butter adorned centerpiece. At first, the trap wasn't set correctly in terms of the weight required to get the trap to close so the chipmunk was actually taking the acorns and eating them right *next* to the trap. Then Doug readjusted the trap and we caught chipmunk #1. Doug took the trap and put it in a brown paper bag and then in a black garbage bag and put it in the wagon. Then the boys took their bikes and we walked to the Bahai temple and dropped the little guy off right next to the forest/bridge/golf course area.

Over the next two days, we set the trap for the other little one in there. Then we caught him or her. Then we took this little one to the same place. We wanted to give them enough time to make a new home before the cold weather sets in.

I decided to post about this because the boys and I saw two chipmunks around the place we dropped them so it was a good place to let them go. I'm glad they found each other. We still have tons of chipmunks that zoom all over our backyard though - it's just a matter of keeping them out of the garage :) But now at least we have a new place to bring them.

Here are the photos of our actual real life Chip and Dale.
