Happy Halloween!

Over the summer, I don't remember exactly what happened but I think Darth Vader's theme song was in my head for some reason and I was humming it. And then I tink James asked what I was singing and I told him and he said who is Darth Vader and then ... I think I let him listen to it on You Tube played by an orchestra or something and then it was like - boom. He wanted to see Darth Vader and I said okay give me a minute and then I found a montage of clips from the Star Wars movies set to his theme song and I let him watch it. And it was love at first sight. I mean - James couldn't get enough of this guy Darth Vader and was humming the theme song all the time and asking questions about the scenes he saw. I mean it was just intense all the time information seeking and gathering. It was aweome.

Then, I asked him what he wanted to be for Halloween and he said, "DARTH VADER!" And then he said, "Mommy you be Princess Leia and Daddy and Cillian be Star Wars too." Well. I always watned to dress James up as Yoda when he was a baby and Doug always said no way. But now - Ha HA! was my chance! So I said to James - of course we can!

James made this choice during the summer. We had costumes in the house by the beginning of October and we didn't let James have Darth until right before Halloween because what we thought would happen, happened - he wanted to be Darth All.The.Time.

Here's what happened when the boys saw the first parts of the costumes. Hilarious. And so so so super cute.

On Halloween, it was pouring. It was raining so hard that James' Halloween parade at school got cancelled :( But they still dressed up in the classroom but still! A cancelled Halloween parade! I had cancelled Cillian's physical therapy for the day because I thought we would be at the parade - so while he napped, I made these.

I told James that the clementines wanted to be pumpkins for Halloween. Doug took a half day so that we could trick or treat as a family. It was such a great and fun day despite the rain.

All afternoon it rained and it rained while we were trick or treating but it was awesome! This was James' first real trick or treating! I took him around while Doug stayed home while Cillian napped. We had SO much fun! I loved it. I haven't dressed up for Halloween since college and it was the most fun. Everyone LOVED James as Darth Vader. I mean people's faces just lit up. It was so awesome.

Here are photos from us getting ready and going out trick or treating! Hope everyone had as much fun as we did!

Uh, I have to brag here ... it's all my own hair - no wig for this Leia.
