For the final touches to the tree, we added our ornaments and this year, Doug surprised us with getting a Lionel train set. The boys loved it. It was actually really cool and reminded me of my Dad and his love of trains. It was nice to have that again in the house. Decorating of course took a few days but it was enjoyable for all of us and this year we even got to pick up a couple of new items just for the house! I bought an indoor wreath to hang at one of the landings, a Guardian Angel holding the Holy Family and James lead us to buying something too. At a store, he asked what something was and he was asking about a Nutcracker display. He'd never seen them before and was curious about them. When Doug saw me talking to James near it, he told us he used to get a Nutcracker every year growing up and then it was kind of decided we'd do the same for James. To catch up on things, we bought a few of them :)
Here are some photos from decorating our home for our first Christmas.
