So this post was also going to be called "Home Alone." Doug had to travel for 36 hours. You think that's funny that I wrote 36 hours instead of 2 days? Yeah, I can understand that. But believe me - as soon as Doug left Friday morning at 6am I had written down every hour that he'd be gone so I could cross it off and tell myself, "Okay only 35 more hours, you can do it!"
I know that single parents do this all the time. I know that people have spouses that travel. My father traveled a lot so I know that my pathetic little 36 hour stretch is nothing in a lot of people's eyes. Also, as a side note, I would like to declare my mother some sort of superhero. But when it was about to happen, it seemed like forever to me. But we survived. I was exhausted but we made it. James was a complete angel and Cillian was non-the-wiser. He only woke up twice at night too! So that was nice.
When Doug got home, I wanted to go for a walk and get Garrett popcorn. If you've never heard of this, please Google it and then order some for yourself. In the 11 years I've been here, I've smelled it and seen people waiting in ridiculously long lines for it but not until recently had I eaten it. Oh my good lord is it delicious. The cheddar cheese and caramel popcorn combo SHOULD NOT work at all but it is PERFECTION.
Here are our photos from our Night Walk! As James says, "When it was pur-pay (purple) out."
So this picture ... James sees this news lady in 'purpay' all the time on buses and bus stops when we're driving to school and he got so excited when he saw it on the walk to get popcorn. He asked me to take his picture in front of it.
