Christmas Tree Shopping

We delayed Christmas tree shopping by one week because of Doug's trip. The day we went it was in the 50s and was a little rainy. What Christmasy weather right? Cillian slept until right before we left the tree lot/store and then was just in screaming mode.

I got so flustered in the store because his screaming is so loud and I feel like people are judging me when he screams. Like, "How could she take that poor baby out when he's crying! He must be hungry or tired!" It's even better when people actually SAY these things to me. But, people don't realize he has colic. So I tell them and then I get one of two reactions, (1) People say, "Oh, I'm not familiar." or (2) People, usually women, look at me like they want to hug me and say, "Oh honey. I've been there. My child had colic until x months ... or my child didn't sleep through the night until xx months." You know encouraging stuff :)

ANYWAY, we picked out a gorgeous and beautiful tree and had so much fun doing so. James was definitely the leader in picking out the tree.

After we bought the tree, literally as we left the store, Cillian stopped crying like immediately. It was nice though becuase then we could stop off at the reindeer and hang out there for a while.

Driving home with the tree tied to the roof of the car was an experience. We do it every year but this year, James was aware enough to realize - "There's a tree on our car!" James loved looking out the sun roof at the tree. He kept repeating, "Make sure you tie her down!" It's what we told the kids that had to tie the tree to the roof of the jeep because we were taking the highway home. It was pretty funny. Cillian conked out on the way home and we had a nice quiet journey back to the city. Ah the magic of carseats and a moving car.

I took some more photos of us unloading the tree.

I have to brag on Doug here ... Look how strong he is :)

bringing the old girl up in the elevator (by the way Doug loved being photographed while getting the tree into the elevator car ... just in case you were curious)

Sappy

some one ... not saying who ... might be a LITTLE excited

Decorating it was a whole different story :) Just as a teaser ... it took us three days. Yes, three days :)
