Happy Easter Everyone! We had an amazing Easter Weekend together as a family and hope that you enjoyed your holiday with your family too. Without further ado, a montage of James, his seersucker suit and a bow tie.

The seersucker suit was a no brainer - hello! But the bow tie has a back story. When the suit arrived, we tried it on James because we ordered size 18 months. Mom was going to have to hem the pants, which she did and did an amazing job! Thank you iron-on hem tape. While James was in it, Mom and Dad had this conversation.
Meg: Oh my gosh he's adorable! But, do you know what would make this even cuter?
Doug: What?
Meg: A bow tie.
Doug: Silence
Doug: Silence
Meg: Yeah, like a little cute Southern man bow tie
Doug: Wait .... like a David Wicker bow tie?
Then, Mom posted this on Wicker's facebook page and Wicker said, "You're getting a bow tie in the mail immediately." Wicker is one of Dad's fraternity brothers from SMU and he is now a lawyer in Tennessee and has always worn bow ties. When it came in the mail, Mom squealed. It is the tiniest little bow tie ever.

And now to Easter. Wow. This was probably the busiest Easter we have ever had. James was amazing. We all went to Mass at 8:30 and James was so well behaved.
James and Dad before Mass
He waved to everyone. The whole Mass. He started to fall asleep right before Communion so Dad took him to the car while Mom finished Mass. Then James took a nap in his car seat at home and then after he ate, we walked to The Drake for brunch! It was sooooooooo nice out. It was a shame Mom forgot to check the temperature outside before she handed out wool dress coats to everyone. Poor Dad had to carry them. Brunch was awesome! Here are a few pics of us enjoying the great spread and atmosphere.

Ah the Easter Bunny. James and Mom went into the kids' room where the Easter Bunny was posing with the children and James smiled at him and then waved. He even grabbed his hand and smiled. Mom went to get Dad and said, "He's not afraid - grab the camera!" Then we went back in and got ready to take the picture. And then ... the highest shriek and screams came from James as he swatted at the Easter Bunny! All we could do was laugh and apologize to the Easter Bunny. Then on the walk home, James fell asleep - it was adorable. And some woman stopped running, took her earphones out and said to us, "I just wanted to let you know that your son wearing a seersucker suit has made my day!" How funny is that?

Then we all wanted to sleep off brunch ... everyone except our James - who was full of energy. So we decided to enjoy the beautiful weather and go outside to the park. As we were walking the clouds darkened and we decided to go to a park closer to home so we could run in just before the rain came. As we were playing, a woman who was there with her family said, "I normally try not to say this, because my three children look like my husband but, my goodness, your son looks just like your husband." Then I told her that the other day, I was asked if I were James' nanny - so I'm pretty used to people saying that he looks just like Doug.

We came in and Doug and James watched the storm roll in.

Then as we enjoyed the first thunderstorm of the spring, we gave James his Easter basket and goodies - James loved loved loved the eggs.

Here's his Easter present from Mom and Dad - a little seat that looks like a little creature. You can take the top off and the teeth off and they become a chair, a little pillow and a little table.
Happy Easter! We love you all and miss you all!
OMG OMG OMG you were so right. I NEED NEED a picture of him in his suit for my happy wall at work. LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE it!
ReplyDeleteMeg,
ReplyDeleteDid you hear me squeal all the way down here in Atlanta? First of all, James is my favorite little boy under the age of one. Second of all, the seersucker suit and bow tie is TOO MUCH. Do you think James will be tall? If so, do y'all believe in arranged marriages? ha ha! James and Fannie Bradley would be the cutest couple around.
Best, Kyle and FB
