2 Month Appointment

Wow - can you believe James is 2 months old? We can't either! Mom took James to his 2 month appointment today and as our luck would have it ... it was raining! I don't think we've had a doctor's appointment (me or him) without rain! To make it even more interesting, it was 59 degrees outside - don't check your calendars - it is July 1st - we just live in Chicago :o) Mom bundled James up in a hat and little hoodie (so cute!) The appointment was during nap time and someone didn't want to miss his nap (hence the paci) but we got to the appointment on time anyway which was sort of magical. Mom had a whole list of questions for Dr. Hirsh who was very patient and answered each one! She even said that Mom is doing a fantastic job with James which made Mom feel like a rock star. The first nurse weighed James and measured him and said that he was the best baby she's had all day long (nice!) and the second nurse said James was "picture perfect" which was so nice ... that was right before she gave him his three shots ... which was not so nice. James cried and Mom may have cried a little too. His pain cry is definitely different than his other cries and I hope it's the cry I hear the least - it just broke my heart to hear it. James was crying so hard that the nurse suggested I nurse him a little to calm him down and it totally did the trick. The poor little guy has been kind of fussy and sleeping a lot but he's our little trooper and should be just fine. Dad and I have just been holding and cuddling him. As for his 'stats' he is now a whopping 13 pounds 2 ounces (which puts him in the 90th percentile!), he's 22 3/4 inches long (50th percentile) and his head measurement 41.5cm (also in the 90th percentile). His next appointment isn't until he's 4 months old! This weekend is a BIG BIG weekend - it's James' Christening! Doug, James and I are so very excited for our family to be here to help us celebrate! James will be meeting lots of new people and seeing old friends again too! Thanks to all who are coming and we can't wait to see you!
