Mom had been nervous about her post-partum appointment for about a week - not so much about the visit, but about actually having to get James there and back without any help from Dad. Normally Dad puts James in the car seat and buckles the seat into the cab. This morning, of course, it was pouring rain - so there went the possibility of taking him in the stroller - we would have to cab it. James woke up about 1 hour before the appointment so I was able to feed him before putting him in the carseat. He was 'quiet alert' as I hailed a cab in the rain and luckily, we hailed a cab driven by the nicest cab driver in Chicago. He was very very patient with me as I buckled James in and even did a U-turn on Chicago Ave so that we wouldn't have to wait at the light in the rain to walk across the street! All during the visit, James was in and out of sleep and was just adored by all the nurses and doctors in the office. His pal Dr. Buscher smiled so big when she saw him and couldn't believe how big he had gotten already - he smiled right back! Mom got the go ahead from Dr. Buscher to resume all normal activities ... including exercise. Now I just have to find the energy and time to do that ... Here's a photo of the little man still sleeping in his carseat after the visit and snuggling with his little lion Dad bought for him. Such a cutie!
