Slip and Slide

So we bought a slip and slide. We thought that James would love this. And have so much fun. It was out for literally 15 minutes and James had a huge meltdown. It was definitely an experience but not the experience of super fantastic family fun depicted on the box. It was a *different* kind of family fun. Fun that you can only experience with a 4 year old :)

So, Doug set it up - James was super excited.

Doug went down the slide.

It was funny and everyone was laughing and having a good time.

Then it was James' turn. He loved running through the water/sprinkler at the end but didn't really want to go down when he went up to the front of the slide. I should say here that we got this because James has been having so much fun running through our sprinklers and playing with the hose. Anyway, it was time for James to go. He didn't want to go so Doug offered to "help" him go down. He did it and then laughed but then burst into tears.

So we told him he didn't have to go again and we'd just pack it up - no big deal. But then it was the meltdown - it was sad because he didn't want it put away but didn't want to play with it anymore - I think he was a little scared to go down. But still wanted to play with it. The meltdown passed and he said he'll like to try it another time. Hopefully next year he'll like it more.
