Happy Fourth of July!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This was one of the days that we could not wait for the family to enjoy. We knew the fireworks were right up the street from us in the park and Doug and I knew that we would be letting James stay up for the first time to see the fireworks. James of course had no idea until that day :) We were all so so so excited I can't even tell you. And looking back now, it was one of those magical days. It's just relaxing, you're doing stuff together as a family and there's laughter, you're all outside and it's just great. The fireworks and party in the park were on the 3rd and there was a parade and park thing on the 4th where Doug grew up. Friends were in town that Doug went to school with so we met up with them to hang out for a bit on the 4th at the park thing in Northfield.
I should say this was a big holiday for a few reasons - James got to have a very BIG BOY night staying up late with Mom and Dad *and* he got to do FIREWORKS. Oh yes.
At this point, I still couldn't find my camera battery charger so all photos are from phones! Sorry for the blur!
Getting ready to head to the park
Rollin'
Mom and Cills
James on top of the world!
Wait for it ...
Almost there ...
And ... he nailed it. Ha!
Oh this was a HUGE deal. James got to stay up after Cillian went to bed and we all grilled out together and made dinner together. James said - It hasn't been just the three of us in a long time. This is nice. We should do this more often! It was so earnest and adorable. Love James so much.
AND THEN - Ta Da!!!!!!!!!!
FIREWORKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
At the fireworks show!
Oh yes and also, James said this brilliant tidbit at the show after a particularly large explosion:
"Dad! That was so loud it almost scared a poop out of me!"
Priceless.
And then on the 4th itself:
The boys
Happy 4th of July!
