We have been having a lot of fun with the yard. The yard and trees and bushes were in wonderful shape actually because the previous owners kept up their lawn service while it was on the market. When we took ownership though, we didn't have a lawn care service in place until June so for 4 months it kind of fared for itself. Not too shabby. We had to get the sprinklers looked at because the lines weren't blown out before the winter last year and the water froze in the pipes. I had no idea what Doug was talking about when he told me (I have much to learn about Midwest home living but that's another post) but we asked Man Feel Good for a rec for a sprinkler guy and he had one - Ramone. He's awesome. Oh also James says, "Sprink-a-ners" for sprinklers. I giggle each time I hear it.
Anyway, we had this kind of blank canvas to work with in terms of the yard. The previous owners had planted perennials that bloom at various times during the spring and summer so the perimeter of the yard was always full of something which was really beautiful. She had it set up so something was always blooming in the yard. Nice to have that!
These lilies are around the whole outside perimeter of the yard - from the garage, down the alley, and down the sidewalk to the end of the fence by the front door.
But, I have to say, Doug's a planter, a gardener - he's got it in his genes. So we had a blast this summer picking out plants and flowers etc. Doug even bought matching shovels for himself and James.

These photos are from us planting some ferns in a shaded area next to our white pines and the planting of the Geraniums in the backyard!!!!!! We also planted Lavender bushes as well but I have no photographic evidence :) You'll just have to take my word for it. Also, Cillian tried to eat it.
