A Great Thing and A Frustrating Thing

So all things in life balance right? We got a stellar stellar review at Cillian's 2 month post-op appointment with Dr. R the surgeon who did his procedure. Cillian's eyes look fantastic! Aaaaaaaand his vision has improved "leaps and bounds" according to Dr. R which is wonderful. It's still a little behind children his age (almost 9 months) and the right eye is slightly weaker than the left eye HOWEVER, they are both improving and they are both improving at the same rate which is what is important. So, for that we are so so so so grateful! Dr. R doesn't need to see Cillian again until October. He told me that he can't wait to see what Cillian will be doing at that point - sitting all the way by himself, crawling, almost walking - who knows? It's very exciting and we can't wait to see what Cillian can accomplish over the next 6 months!

Now, with this came a bit of a shock on Saturday morning when I went to get an ice cube for my coffee (I get it at the perfect temp so I can basically pound it) and the ice maker didn't work. So I said, "Doug can you come here and try to fix the ice maker?" I opened the freezer door and as I was talking to James I noticed things were dripping. Dripping things in a freezer is NEVER a good sign. Then I looked at the temp - 32 degrees. Then I looked at the temp for the fridge - 49 degrees.

Pick your favorite bad word and insert it here.

Yep. The fridge broke. Everything in the freezer had to be thrown out - spaghetti sauce, soups, chili, meat, ice cream, sorbet, chicken tenders, and the most frustrating thing - all the baby food I had made. All of it. Beautiful colorful puddles in ziplocs. Uhg. All the dairy products in the fridge were tossed and most of the food in there too.

It was so frustrating. I am sitting here now waiting for the GE man. All weekend James has been drinking that Horizon milk that can sit out at room temperature - they sell it at Starbucks. We have been eating meal by meal and I went to Whole Foods to pick up some sandwiches for us on Saturday and I saw the milk there - it's vanilla flavored and James calls it ice cream milk. I hope the process of getting James drinking regular milk won't be too hard after this.

So Doug was able to get it working again by turning the fuse on and off but then it broke again and then he did the fuse thing again and it's been working since late Saturday night. However, I am shy about putting food in there again until GE guy arrives and takes a peek at it.

Life without a fridge. It's not too bad it's just frustrating because James' birthday party is this weekend and I have a cake to keep cold and things for a BBQ to keep cold as well. I sense a trip to Bed Bath & Beyond for a mini-fridge might be in our future. . . . .

Anyway, here's a very cute photo I took of the boys. Ah, brotherly love. Love you guys so much!! I am such a lucky girl to have these two rascals as sons :)
