A Bit Better
Oh Lawd. Yesterday, yesterday, yesterday. Thank God for my wonderful, amazing, caring, loving, patient and funny husband. After I had blown my nose and recognized the color from the newly dyed river and then coughed up something disgusting, I cried writing this message, "Do you think you can please stay home today - I can't swallow again and I just did this" (showing him what I coughed.) He called his boss and told him that I was worse today and had to rest to get better. I am so thankful to Doug and to his boss for being so understanding. I would have crawled over to a neighbor's apt with James if Doug had to go to work. That's how it was yesterday. I didn't talk all day - I couldn't. I just slept and drank tea and when Doug and James got back from school, I helped with lunch and then we all napped. We just took it easy yesterday. And today, I'm home, with James, Doug's at work and I've been squeaking my way through the day. Trisha wrote a comment that she would have to bang pots and pans together to get the girls' attention and I laughed because all day on Monday I was slapping the floor or my hands together and shaking my head no. I wish I had thought of the pots! But today, unlike Monday where I handed the guy at Argo my order, I was able to screech out "large carolina honey tea please." The only bad thing today are my coughing attacks. They are brutal for me and they scare the heck out of James. He usually starts crying and then cries, "Daddy." It's no fun. Hopefully, I'll be better for the weekend - it's going to be in the 50s!!!! Spring may be finally here!

Meg, I'm sorry you're so sick! Feel better! I was sick two weeks ago and tried a few new home remedies that worked great:
ReplyDeleteteaspoon of honey with cracked black pepper on it. Lick it then don't eat of drink anything for 20 minutes afterward. Really helps the throat.
Next is chopped peeled fresh ginger with honey and lemon slices in hot water- works wonders! I drank it all day long.
Last is fresh ginger juice mixed with honey and lemon without the hot water.
Feel better!
xoxo

I'm so glad Doug got to stay home with you...and it seems like it helped you a bit! Keep taking care of yourself and feel better my love! Hugs & Kisses
ReplyDeleteSo glad you are on the road to recovery! It is hard to be in "mommy mode" when you are so sick. I had a day like that when I could not leave my bathroom I was so sick, and Trav was out of town, his mom was out of town, my sister in law was at work...Trav's brother Wes came to my rescue and watched the girls and his little girl all day long one Saturday! I do not know what I would have done if he hadn't saved me! Feel better soon!
ReplyDeleteWow - guys thanks so much for all your kind words. Being sick is horrible with kiddies. Devon - ginger is wonderful - thanks for the tips, thanks Cec and Trish - I am so proud of Wes - "the boy" I remember has totally grown up :) Feeling better and thank you again!
