Oh James is growing up so quickly I can't stand it some days. Right after he finishes his bottles, he can hardly sit still long enough for us to burp him. He wants to stand on the couch and look out the window or he wants to stand on the ground and hold on to the coffee table and play with his bib, book, and/or bottle top! Standing is our new favorite activity.
Crawling .... still undecided about this. James is a roller. Not even sure how to describe this other than this: if we put James down on one side of the room, he will end up in a completely different location - not by crawling, but by rolling and shifting his body on the carpet. It's a sight to witness I promise. James still loves to sit and play - he's a fantastic sitter! He loves to play with his laptop and racecar, blocks and rings. James still enjoys his office and bouncer too. Although, he's nearing the weight limit for the bouncer so sooner than later that'll have to be packed up. What a sad day that will be.
James is now making all sorts of noises too. He makes a clicking noise with his tongue on the roof of his mouth, eeeeeee, aaaaaaaa, kkkkkkkkkk, and a noise that I cannot spell but will illustrate with a story. Remember back to SNL with David Spade? He played a character with a speech impediment and said, "C'mon over to my house, we can watch movies it'll be scccchhhweeet" - it's the sccccchhh - like a wet shhh. Well, there you go, it can be spelled! He's perfected "DaDa" and right about when Doug comes home, it's the only thing out of his mouth "Dad, Dad, dadadadadada" Let me assure you that Doug is in 7th Heaven when James does this. We also hear the occasional "Mom or Mama" and the occasional "tat" for cat (we think). He has lots of toys with cats on them or tigers and lions and a few times he's seen the pictures and said, "tat". It's adorable. James is also trying to say hi or hey - sometimes we get an "Ayyyyyyyyyyyye" in the vein of the Fonz. Priceless.
James is also continuing his solid foods - chicken, turkey, ham, black beans, avocado, mango, pears, bananas, sweet potatoes, carrots, peas, rice, pasta and yogurt. And - cheerios! They have been a total hit in the house - with everyone! Mom and Dad are enjoying them just as much as James. We even have done an "o" sign for them. James seems to be understanding the signs more than he is signing but we're still working on it!
Here are a few of our favorite photos from the last month.
