Happy Happy New Year!!!! Well 2010 is officially here and we decided it was finally time to make some changes for the new year. First of all, James is no longer in his bassinet-style stroller. He is officially in his "big boy" sit-up stroller and Mom and Dad are in disbelief! James LOVES this stroller - he loves being able to look around and see everything.

The colors of the stroller are blue and red perfect for cheering for SMU and the Cubbies! Also, James got a new car seat. He was .... hmmm ... how should I put this .... busting out of his old one. Ha! The Graco snugride has served us very very well, but James is "a touch" over the length and weight limits :o) So, Dad did some research and found the Graco snugride 35 which has a weight-limit up to 35lbs. It's pretty cool - grey with a red racing stripe - perfect for our little man. Yesterday was James' first day in the new seat and we believe James enjoyed it thoroughly. James has tons of room and three little pillow-like cushions around his head. Little man was fast asleep on the way home before we knew it.

We also introduced little bits of food today. Dr. Hirsh had suggested that by month 8 we should introduce little bits of food to James and eventually Cheerios and the like. Well, today Mom and Dad were eating breakfast while playing with James and Mom squished a little piece of banana and gave it to James - he mushed it around, swallowed and looked up at us with his bright blue eyes looking for more. Success! Then during his last highchair feeding, Mom gave him some left over cooked apple from making applesauce. James was very into examining the apple, touching it and 'combing' it in with his fingers than with eating. But, the goal of this is twofold: to have him hone his pincher grasp and to begin to finger feed. Exciting times people! I will try to take some photos to post. We also bought these little crisps from Gerber that dissolve on the tongue. I thought it would be better to start with these than with Cheerios. We'll see how it goes.
Lastly, our first weekend of the New Year ended on a celebratory note: The Bears won their final game against Detroit! Woo-hoo!! Go Bears!

Wishing all of you a very happy, healthy and prosperous new year! Love you all!!
