A Great Time

Great Aunt Margi and Great Uncle Rich visited with us on Thursday! They were in town from New York for a wedding for Rich’s family and got to meet James! When they first arrived, James was asleep and we took him for a walk down to the river and enjoyed some delicious food from Fox and Obel. Then when we got back, James ate and then he finally got to met Margi and Rich. I can say for certain that James misses being snuggled in on Margi’s lap and being doted on by Rich – I don’t think I’ve ever seen him so cozier than when he was laying on Margi – it was too cute!! It was a lot of fun looking at pictures of both me and Doug when we were babies and discussing who James looks like the most. At first, I was the lead contender but after we looked through Doug's baby album - it was all over - Doug was the clear winner. :o)

We all got to enjoy James while he was in his “quiet alert” stage – he gets like this after he eats and he’s not too full (he falls asleep) or still hungry (he CRIES!!). It’s really such a great time – his beautiful ocean blue eyes are open all the way and he just looks at the light coming in from the windows or your face, he will grab on to your finger, kick his strong little legs and make cute little sigh noises. It’s awesome – definitely my favorite time with him during the day. Quiet alert is still fun at night but most nights I’m hoping for a ‘too full’ ending to the middle of the night feedings! After he fell asleep, we all enjoyed a delicious take-out dinner from Volare (Thank you Rich!!) and then we were able to enjoy James all together one last time before Margi and Rich had to leave to go to their hotel for the wedding festivities. We had such a nice time with them; we miss them so much and cannot wait to see them again!
