One Year Appointment

Cillian's 1 year appointment went really well. Cillian is still around the 10th percentile for height and weight and his head circumference is still around the 5th percentile. Dr. Hirsh said she's not concerned about anything because he's been on the same path and continues to be - she said she'd be concerned if there were a change and there's not. So. There you go. She was very impressed with the developmental gains that he's made in just 3 months. She said it was "incredible." So for that, I am very pleased and excited for Cillian. He has been working so so so hard I can't even tell you. In terms of the feeding, we should continue what we're doing and keep trying new and different textures of foods. As for the bottles and formula it's a bit different than it was for James. James we went cold turkey on bottles and formula but for Cillian we're just going cold turkey for the milk. Bottles we can wean off slowly with him because he can't hold a sippy cup yet and he isn't so good at taking fluids from anything but the bottle. But, we'll be working on it and hopefully we'll get there sooner than we think. Dr. Hirsh told me no pressure - just as he's ready for it we'll do it. Cillian took his shots like a champ and then we all got back in the car and drove back out to the burbs and then slept off the shots and drive. Way to go Big Guy! We love you!

Physical Therapy July

Sometimes I take photos during the session we have with Leida just because I want to be able to show Doug how hard Cman is working. Ledia doesn't mind either - I find it to be helpful to do the exercises at home and also it's cool to see how far Cillian has come.

And then sometimes, James gets to do a fun thing as a reward for being such a great big brother and so patient and quiet during therapy! Today he got to do the car rollercoaster! He loved it!

I know he looks sad in some of the pictures or in pain but he's just frustrated and he doesn't want to do this - he would much rather just lay on his back but he can't. He works so so so hard I cannot even express it here. Leida is a fantastic therapist and I just don't know what we would do without her. She is so supportive and loves Cillian so much. We are so thankful to her. Cillian gives her hugs and snuggles after every session - I think he realizes that she is helping him :) Go Cillian Go!

Special Guests

Liddy and Mike Mike came into town for Cillian's first birthday and we had SO MUCH FUN! Mom and Dad even got to go out on TWO dates. TWO! I will let the photos do the talking for this post. Thank you so much for coming to visit us and have so many fun adventures! We love you so much!

On the night of Cillian's party we had a surprise for James - we saved fireworks from the Fourth of July and we let him stay up late too. We thought he did a GREAT job at his brother's first birthday where the focus was entirely on someone else so we thought we'd give him a special night.

Liddy and Mike Mike got to enjoy the fireworks too - they were not allowed to do this as children so they had so much fun throwing the poppers and playing with the sparklers.

The next day we went to the Botanic Gardens and it was freezing. No one was dressed appropriately. Especially not our newly one year old son. Everyone should have had on a sweatshirt and long sleeves. This was not typical July weather at all - I think it was only the upper 60s or something.

Little man fell sound asleep while we were walking around so Liddy and I walked with him while the boys went into the butterfly exhibit and saw really cool butterflies and moths.

This one was "huge" as described by Doug and was from the Amazon.
This Giant Moth is another reason I will not plan on visiting the Amazon any time in the near future.

And then a cute little butterfly landed right on James!

These two became fast friends on this visit :)

Big date night out! Diary Queen!!!! Doug double fisting a Mr. Misty and a chocolate dipped cone.

I was in Heaven.

It was such a great visit and we were all very sad when they had to leave.
We love you both so very much!
