On Sunday, James had his adventure to the Botanic Gardens with Toni and Mary to see the trains. Toni said she took lots of photos and will be sending them out to me and the other Mom - I cannot wait to see them and I will post them for you guys to see too!!! I cannot tell you what a weird feeling it was watching James drive away in a car other than ours. James did not freak out, I didn't freak out. I really think that it was just how safe both of us are with Toni and Mary. They are just such wonderful people and I am just so thankful for them.
When they returned it was about 12:15ish and Doug and I had been wanting to go to Walker Brother's for pancakes so we decided to take James there for his inaugural visit. We used to go all the time when I was pregnant with James. I would wake Doug up so early on the weekends and beg him to drive us out to the burbs to eat there. He would take me, I would eat to my hearts content and then the next weekend I'd beg all over again. It is that good. James seems to agree with us - he ate an entire side of fruit, his entire plate of pancakes (3 regular sized) and all of his milk. I mean this place is just so good.
On Sunday night, we finished preparing the study to be painted on Monday! I cannot tell you how hard we've Doug worked to get this room cleared out and ready for the baby. All day Friday (he took off from work) and all day Saturday I am so thankful!!!! We had a picnic in the room Saturday for lunch.
It was really adorable to watch James imitate Doug. Doug was using the moving men and a dolly to move the big pieces of furniture and James would roll a dolly by with a toy truck on it or put a bag of markers on one of the moving men and slide it across the floor. Anyway, in the end, two file cabinets, 5 bookcases (full of books and binders full of papers), one desk, one table, one computer, a shredder, countless photos (loose mind you), framed photos, photo albums, two graduate school careers worth of books, binders, papers, etc, art work, diplomas, a closet full of luggage, mementos, office supplies and other miscellanea were removed from 'the study.'
Here's the before and after shot with just the crib.
Now we just have to put the room back together!
Today we art class and it was again, so much fun. James was estatic to paint - they did a great project where they painted the ocean and then used tissue paper cut outs of sea creatures and oil based crayons to color sea creatures on another paper which they'll cut out next week. Ms. Jan previewed that the artists will be using glue and sand next week to complete their projects they started today. James was really excited and wants to go back tomorrow. Here are photos from class.
When we got home and after we ate lunch, he wanted to do more art. He sat at his table and pretended to be Ms. Jan. He was saying to me, "Artist-is ... Artist-is! Pick out a color to use and glue!" It was really cute.
Anyway, hope everyone has a great 4th of July tomorrow!!! I know we'll be grilling out and enjoying some hot dogs, chip dip and watermelon! And of course, the fire works :)
I love y'all. James is just so cute!
