Art Class and City Bunnies

So, I'll say it first. What's with the lack of blogging Meg? Well ... I'm tired. I'd throw the word lazy out there but then I'd feel I was being unfair to myself and then I'd throw the word pregnant out there and then I'd feel like pregnancy was being used as an excuse. So ... we'll go with tired. Anytime James is asleep, I'm finding myself asleep, trying to go to sleep or trying to clean up a little bit. Oh ha - funny thing ... lately I've been awoken by James' face mere centimeters from my own and when I open my eyes I hear, "Mom I up." Because I'm such a good Mom I only ask for 5 more minutes :)

We have so much to do. Cleaning is becoming more and more of a challenge. For lots of reasons. The main one though is that bending over/squatting down could be viewed as an Olympic sport for me. I don't remember having this much trouble bending over to pick things off the floor when I was pregnant with James. Maybe the baby is lower? Maybe our floor wasn't covered in toddler paraphernalia though either .... Whatever the reason, this child's toy is seeming more and more attractive to me each day.

Remember how I was saying last week that our weeks are about to get more scheduled? Well, music class got canceled due to low enrollment so we actually are only going to have art class once a week. I'm fine with that actually. We have so much to do to get the place ready for the baby that I really don't mind having days open to run errands, to attempt to clean/organize (I use attempt because if anything gets cleaned up it's usually stopped because James is using it or is about to use it or needs it right there on the floor forever) or really to just relax and hang out with James.

We got to hangout though all day outside yesterday. It was amazing. First of all, it was 75 out. I don't know why or how we got a break from the 90s but man, it felt wonderful outside. It's like my perfect/ideal outside  temperature. Not too hot ... Not too cold ... just perfect. It was sunny, big beautiful white clouds floating through the sky - just perfect. We left the house at 8:15 and James rode his tricycle down to the river and we stayed there all morning. All morning. Didn't even have snack. We played road work, colored with chalk, watched the dogs being walked, watched the boats go up and down the river and then we noticed the fountain was on and talked with the repair man for a bit and then played in the fountain. It was great.

After Doug got home and we ate, we went back out because ... we were going to feed the city bunnies. What? Yes. On Sunday night, we went to the park after dinner to enjoy the weather and close out the weekend and we noticed a Mama Bunny and a little tiny precious baby bunny hiding in the grass cover. The Mama went out to get some food and the little guy just hung out close to the grasses and flowers. Yesterday James and I went to the store to get "carrots with green on them" for the bunnies to eat. James asked and I couldn't resist. So last night, we dropped off the carrots for them. James was so excited.

Do you see the baby bunny? It's right next to the flowers at appx 9 o'clock - the very tiny little charcol colored poof

On either side of this beautiful day, we've had two art classes so far. Both times we've done the same thing because our class last week was a make-up and this class is "one week behind" the other in terms of projects because of start dates. The teacher apologized today for doing the same project but I told her that James had asked to play with clay and sand again so ... it was kind of perfect. Miss Jan calls the kids "artists" when she speaks to them. She's a really nice 'original' hippie that runs an art studio for adults but does kid classes in the summer because she thinks everyone is capable of art. I love it. I love her studio. There's paint splatter on the floors and walls and projects everywhere. It's the kind of place I wish I could have in a house one day to let Doug sculpt again, James create or me fiddle around with something ... or even have a dark room :) Here are the photos from both classes - they made islands out of clay - like real clay she cut with a wire, sand, glue, paint and shells. Everyone was a mess afterwards but everyone is smiling ear to ear afterwards too :)
