Freedom! In the Form of a Tricycle

James is a free man. He can ride his tricycle all by himself. The first time he did this was two weeks ago and I was going to post about it then but then it rained for ever and we hadn't been back outside on the tricycle. Until yesterday!

The first time James rode, I said, "Push the pedals around in circles with your feet!" And then he took off! Slowly ... but he took off nonetheless! As we rode by people, James would say, "No Mom! No Mom!" Which was his way of proudly exclaiming he was riding all by himself!

Yesterday we went to the park because it was BEAUTIFUL outside. We're having an Indian Summer - there was a frost over the weekend but for the next week or so we'll be treated to upper 70s and low 80s! Woo-hoo! Anyway, we played in the park and James had so much fun pedaling around. He would ride on the sidewalk and then steer himself right into the grass and erupt into hysterical laughter. Then he would use his feet and push himself backwards into the grass on the other side and then again, hysterical belly laughing.

And ...... someone had to go to the bathroom .... badly .... and there was no bathroom in the park. We discretely went in some tall grasses and James thought that that was basically the most amazing thing ever. I told him that it was just because it was an emergency and we can't go to the bathroom outside all the time. All afternoon he told me he had 'mernency' and had to go 'peeps on gree' - which means he was having an emergency and needed to pee on the grass.

However, so we don't leave off with us having images of bathrooms and outside urination, here is the Big Man on his tricycle pedaling ALL BY HIMSELF!!!!!
