Is there anything duct tape can't fix? I love duct tape and so does my very handy (thank goodness) husband. After work on Wednesday, Doug took a look at the crib and he discovered that one side of the crib had actually been secured with screws! Doug took one out to use for the broken side (until we could get enough for the entire crib) and then covered all of the broken pieces with duct tape so James wouldn't hurt himself and also I suppose to reinforce it. Such a handyman rock star. I hope James got those genes. Not to be outdone, however; I managed to unscrew one of the screws with an allen wrench yesterday and post-nap, James and I went to the hardware store to pick up 4 new screws for his crib. I tried to act all handy in front of the guy at the hardware store, but he easily called my bluff. I quickly confessed that in junior high I took home ec and not shop. He smiled and then helped us out. Best $2.80 I've spent at a hardware store. Now we feel more comfortable about James being in the crib. So the new railing should arrive sometime next week. We'll keep you posted.
