2

Today, our son turned 2. Wow. It goes fast. Everyone tells you it goes fast, you nod like you understand that it will go fast and then it goes so fast your head spins. Our little son is 2. James holds up his pointer fingers on each hand to tell people he's 2. James was so excited all day today. Doug and I both went in to his room this morning to say good morning and happy birthday! Then, after breakfast, Mom and James waited out in the main roon and Dad went and got James' birthday surprise. Dad asked, "Are you ready?" And we said, "Ready!" And then, we heard, "Ding, Ding, Ding!"
And this is what James looked like:
And this is at what James was looking:
A tricycle!!!
James rode this around all morning before we left for school. Doug was late to work today. We were almost late to school. The.Tricycle.Is.Awesome.
Then, on the way to school, Grandpa Mike and Liddy called us to wish James happy birthday and also told us some sad news. You see, when my Nana passed in December, my grandfather's heart broke. And early this morning, he went to be with my Nana and his heart became whole again. I told James this morning that all of his great-grandparents were throwing a huge and happy birthday celebration for him in a very wonderful place.
After we got home and napped, Grandma and Grandpa Sennott came over to help us celebrate James' birthday. We played all afternoon and James opened a great present from Grandpa and Grandma when Dad came home. Then we all enjoyed Volare for dinner and special cupcakes from Sweet Mandy B's for dessert. On the night that James was born, Auntie E and Uncle Serge brought us cupcakes and it's a tradition we continue every year :) James loved his cupcake so much that he was the only person at dinner to finish an entire cupcake and also to eat some of Dad's cupcake. What can I say? He loves himself some cupcakes :) It probably has nothing to do with the fact that I ate them like it was my job when I was pregnant ...
Our Dearest James, cheers to you and the most wonderful, happy and joyous birthday wishes to you our son! It's been the most special two years of our lives and we can't imagine our lives without you. You are our sonshine.
