At the end of the school year, which to be honest with you feels like a week ago, we all went out to Walker Brothers to have delicious pancakes to celebrate. So, we thought we'd go to celebrate the beginning of a new year too! But this time, instead of being in his car seat, Cillian sat in a high chair. This was his first time in a restaurant high chair! He did great! The reason he had never been in one before is because he couldn't sit up all the way on his own and the high chairs typically don't have backs to them. But he was ready and he did great!! Cillian even had some fruit from James' breakfast.
Cillian and I were originally supposed to go home after breakfast but then we had such a great outing that we decided to all go together to Lowes. James loves Lowes and Home Depot. So we had to go here to pick up some rocks to put around the air conditioner units outside and we needed to go to the Chalet to pick up more mulch. We had a tree service come out and take a look at the trees in our yard. Some of them are huge. Huge huge huge trees. One oak towers over the house and the house is 3 stories high. One of the trees in the backyard near the alley actually has wire bar supports connecting branches together and we thought that those should definitely be checked out by a tree specialist. So, at our appointment, the tree guy said that the trees were all in good health and just needed some fertilizer and trimming. One tree though - a little Japanese Elm in the backyard - needed more watering.
The guy also mentioned to me that any area that was dirt, should be covered in mulch to help retain water and prevent erosion. So we went to buy mulch. I could type that a million times because that's how many times it felt like we needed to buy more mulch. You go through it so quickly! Mulching the yard turned out to be one of the most time consuming things we did this summer. Almost every weekend morning was spent on yard related activities. It needed to be done and James had a fantastic time - everyday he asked if he could mulch. So the inside stuff got pushed back but the yard looks amazing. Doug and James really did a fantastic job! Thanks guys! Here they are mulching!
The ferns and pines are covered!
The area by the sunroom looks great!
Strong guy!

Measuring out grass seed.
Showing off all the hard work around the big oak by the garage.
