So we live in a condominium building in the city. This means that we have neighbors on our floor, neighbors below us and of course, neighbors above us. The unit above us, has new owners. Our new neighbors don't like the layout and design of the unit. They are redoing everything. Everything - the kitchen, the bathrooms (all three), redoing the wood floors (like taking out old ones and putting in new ones) AND they are knocking down walls. This is the unit literally right above us. We got an email stating that "demolition" would begin on such and such date and would last for a week. I have a three year old and a newborn. I'll let that sink in.
A part from obvious disruption in our lives this would cause, both of my children take naps. Both of my children have to take naps. I spoke with our property manager. She gave me the contractor's email. Nicest guy - has seven children. Totally was receptive to my plea for a break from 1-3pm so my sons could sleep. The noise was indescribable. The noise was constant. I took a video so the level of noise could be heard and also so James' screaming could be heard. I'm not posting it on here though because James is so vulnerable on it and I just don't think it's fair to him. It was so frightening to him. It was like saws and drills and whatever tools they use to remove tiles and wood were right by our ears. My Mom was still here for this (Thank God) and we would take both boys down to the building's community room to escape the noise. The demolition is all over now but to give you an idea of how it left us, here's a photo my Mom took.
