Today is a very special day - Dad's birthday! I know that this is in addition to the two posts per month, but Dad is just a very special guy and he needed to be celebrated :) Instead of just one day, Dad got to experience a birthday weekend starting on Thursday night when he got home from work to find this on the balcony!
A new grill!!!

You may remember last year, we got Dad a smoker and this year we replaced Ole Trusty who didn't even have a handle on its hood anymore. That grill lasted us 10 years and our friends in Chicago can vouch for how often that grill was used and enjoyed. Now, Dad has side tables which he loves. LOVES.
On Friday, Dad had the day off and we all went up to the Botanic Gardens and had a picnic. It was very nice but very very very hot outside and we only stayed for a little bit. On Saturday, Mom worked and Dad and James had a great day together. We even let James have half of a cupcake from Sweet Mandy B's and we witnessed James' first sugar high. It was hilarious. He was speed walking around the house rumbling his lips - the sound was like the Jetson's car sound - for like 10 minutes. It was so funny. We also had cookies in the house ... dangerously delicious homemade, Mom's own recipe cookies. Not only are they fabulous for birthdays, they also help to quell dissertation related stress. . . who knew?

On Sunday, we spent the day together as a family and all went to Whole Foods to pick up some great food for our burger bbq to break in the new grill. The burgers were great and it was a perfect way to end the birthday weekend! Happy Birthday to the best, most loving and adoring husband and father! We love you!
