Dissertation Update

So hi. It's been a while and I totally feel like I'm neglecting this blog. I know that it's to finish my work, but I miss it. So, to make myself feel better and also to indulge in a little procrastination, I was thinking that I should probably give you guys an update about how the work is coming along. And yes, those are cookie crumbs.

All the data has been entered, the analyses have been run and everything but the Discussion section has been written. Yep, I've been very busy. And I have had so much coffee that on some days I feel like a squirrel. However, there are some really really cool findings in the data and I've been actually pumped to write them up and think about what could be behind some of the relationships that I have found. I'll share them all with you after I defend. Promise. So here's what it's been looking like around here lately.

I talked with my director and she told me that for dissertation, the committee needs to have the rough draft for 3-4 weeks to become familiar with everything and then I can schedule my oral defense of my work in front of the faculty of the psychology department. This will hopefully be in the middle of September. And in order to graduate in December, I have to have the dissertation completely formatted and into the Graduate School but October 1st. This means I have to have the draft into my director by Monday night/Tuesday morning. If all goes well and everyone's schedules allow for my dissertation to take a lot of their attention and time, I will graduate in December. If not, it'll be May but like I told Doug, I'm working like it's going to be for December no matter what happens.

I think it goes without saying that I'm going to be busy this weekend. But, it's also our 5 year Wedding Anniversary, the Air and Water Show and Doug's going to see Phish on Sunday. Ah the perpetual balance of life. As I type this, the Blue Angels are flying across the lake making so much noise the windows are shaking - I'm surprised they haven't woken up James. I'm sure we'll have photos to post from this weekend...some one LOVES to take photos of the planes. Thanks for sticking around and being patient! We'll be back and up and running sooner than later! Love you all and miss you all so much.
