Today is a very festive day in Chicago - it's the day the city celebrates St. Patrick's Day! The city dyes the river GREEN and has a huge parade! We made sure James was dressed in his GREEN too! We don't think there's a cuter Irishman in the city of Chicago :o)

Unfortunately, the weather this year was not as nice as last year. Last year it was sunny, in the 50s and I was 35 weeks pregnant! Despite the fog, drizzle and chilliness, we bundled the family Sennott up and headed down to the river.

Lucky for us, the river is only 4 short blocks away from home. We got there just as the police boats were churning the water after depositing the dye.

We thought that our neck of the woods was a little tourist heavy today but then realized it was the line for Lizzie McNeill's Pub! Good gracious there are a lot of people who are ready to get their drink on at 10:30am! We walked along the river to Michigan Ave stopping every so often to enjoy the view whenever a spot opened up along the bridge.

Despite the weather, the river-walk was packed!

And we got some great photos too! These cops were so funny - they told James, "You stay out of trouble."

And a very nice man took our family photo for us too!

Then Dad carried James in his stroller up a huge amount of stairs (swoon!) and we made our way back home. We decided it was too cold outside for us to journey to watch the parade. Hopefully we'll make it next year! On the bright side, it's such a cozy day because of the rain and chilliness - James and Dad enjoyed watching the Blackhawks by the fire and Mom is making Irish stew. Yum! We can't wait for St. Patrick's Day but we had a great day today at James' first Chicago River Dyeing!
omg...can you believe you were prego this time last year?! well you all look happy and healthy and the river is greeeeeen!
